Installation of Air Conditioning Systems - Hoyer UK, Huddersfield
The existing air conditioning system was not coping with the requirements of the building. A variety of options were put to the client to enable the building to meet the new Building Regulations.
Our original brief was to degas and remove from site an existing rooftop packaged air conditioning unit which was connected to a range of ductwork and continuous strip diffusers, this unit was also being used to provide the frech air input and extract ventilation to the premises.
The existing rooftop package unit was safely decanted of all refrigerant by our in-house Refcom approved engineers, and then safely removed from the roof in liaison with a local craneage company.
A combination of new split system ceiling recessed air conditioners to serve the open plan office area, and wall mounted units to serve the individual offices were then installed.
New steelwork support frames were purpose built and installed at roof level to support the outdoor air conditioning plant.
New refrigeration pipe work was installed to connect the indoor and outdoor units and this was run out of site above the suspended ceilings within the premises.
To maintain suitable ventilation levels Mitsubishi Lossnay heat recovery units were installed which introduce fresh air and also extract the stale air; the Lossnay unit recovers the heat from this extracted air to warm the incoming fresh air if required. New insulated ductwork connected to a range of new ceiling grilles, to distribute this fresh air, and extract air, were installed.
To ensure the installation of the air conditioning and ventilation systems did not impact on our clients working practices all internal work was carried out throughout the night.
Systems were chosen from the Toshiba inverter range of air conditioning products, and Mitsubishi Lossnay ventilation products, for their energy efficiency, ease of installation and low running costs. As all the systems are A/A rated the client was able to recover the costs of these new systems through the governments Enhanced Capital Allowance Scheme.
